The Arts Center is a former convent for the Ursuline Order of the Sacred Heart and later housed the Mary Manse College and St. Ursula Academy. Originally, there was supposed to have been 15 interconnected buildings around three courtyards. In the end, only the power plant, the music building, and the academy buildings were built.

In 1975, when Mary Manse College closed, most of the adjacent properties acquired through the years was sold off. In 1985, when Collingwood Art Center purchased the the Academy building, they also acquired the attached Gerber House, the Terrault House, and the chapel.

** Main building — apparitions of nuns
** Attic — a nun is said to be sewing and will smile and wave before vanishing
** Theatre — an angry nun that is said to have hung herself in the basement is reportedly seen in the third row of the balcony
** Basement — the nun is also said to haunt the basement and encounters with her date back to the 1950s. There is a “dark man” that floats around the basement stairwell and a dwarfish figure in a hood who enjoys being a prankster
** Gerber House — a woman in white is said to be seen in the back and front parlors and a group of children run the hallways of the second floor — they believe the children died during a Typhoid outbreak
